First solid food feeding!!!!

Well, we decided to go ahead and start feeding Jackson rice cereal today. I was reading up in my baby books about what signs to look for that he is ready to start with solids and he has all the signs! Sitting up with support, over 13 lbs, interested in what mom and dad is eating and he increased his feeds from 5 times a day to 8 and he is still waking up at night to eat! I knew he was ready when he started waking up at night to feed all of a sudden. They recommend waiting until babies are 6 months old before starting solids but they could start as early at 4 months old. I could tell he just wasn't getting enough to eat so we went out and bought little plates and spoons and some rice cereal and crossed our fingers he would take to it!

I nursed him first and then we put him in his high chair. To our surprise he opened his mouth wide and took the rice in his mouth, as if saying, "where have you been hiding this stuff?" I was so proud of him! He opened his mouth everytime we put the spoon to his lips! Now, I can't tell you how much he actually took in because a lot of it was on his bib but he sure gobbled it up! We'll keep doing this for his early evening feeding for a couple of weeks until we start seeing he's actually taking more in, then we'll try some other foods. How exciting! My baby is getting to be such a big boy!

Meeting Great Grandpa Reyes/Trip to N.C.

We visited Auntie Gloria and Uncie Rob this past weekend in North Carolina. It was a quick trip but we had a great time hanging out. Great Grandpa Reyes finally got to meet Jackson for the first time! We got some great pics.

Jackson is starting to teethe! His doctor saw one tooth trying to poke through and now he is really feeling it. He has been waking up several times throughout the night which makes for sleepy parents! There's not much we can really do other than try to comfort him. We tried Tylenol and Ambesol but to no avail. He is drooling like crazy and constantly has something in his mouth! Hopefully it will pass soon as I am really getting tired!

4 months old and we rolled over today!!!!! Yeah!

4 months....wow! He had his 4 month checkup today and he's doing so good! He is now 25" long and weighs 13 lbs. He had his second set of shots and he did so well! While the doc was talking to me she had him on his belly seeing if he holds his head up. Not only did he hold his head up at a 90 degree angle he rolled over for the first time!!!! We were both amazed! She asked if he had ever done it before and I said no! That's the first time! He had these big blue eyes bulging out probably thinking what just happened!!!??? He is getting so big! He is now wearing 6-9 month clothes!

We're leaving this weekend to North Carolina to see Auntie Gloria and Uncie Rob and Great Grandpa. They haven't seen him since he was born! Are then in for a shock! :-)

Hey Grandpa Reyes: Check out my onsie! It is a police car and says "Little Hero". Too cute!

Easter 2007

We had such a good time with Uncle Mat and Aunt Amanda. The weather was yucky (it snowed in April!) go figure! We managed to find some fun time though. We went to the Blueridge Parkway and checked out some great views! Scott put them to work as soon as they got here building a shed from scratch. It looks great though! Thanks guys! They also did a great job putting Jackson to bed and changing poopy diapers! Great practice!! We can't wait to see them again in June!

We had such a great time at the beach. It was a little cold to play in the water but we did get some good pictures. Jackson did so well! (For his first overnight trip). The beach house was awesome and we had a great time hanging out with friends.

Jackson 3 months

Here are a couple of pics of Jackson while Scott was out of town. We really missed Daddy but managed to find some fun time! Check out that big smile!

Jackson's wounds are looking great. We are still doing sponge baths as we can't submerge him until they come off. We also think he is starting to teethe. He was very fussy yesterday so we put some Orajel on his bottom gums and some Tylenol. He seemed to calm right down. Also Scott watched him all evening and night as I got invited to go the the Justin Timberlake concert last night. He did well for him taking 8 oz of breast milk! (the most he's ever had!) Usually it has been around 6 oz.

He is also starting to sleep much longer at night. He went from 8pm until 5am last weekend! It must be the increase in breast milk that he is taking in to hold him over till morning.

He is laughing and trying to talk much more now. He loves putting his hands in his mouth and drools all over the place! He has also been grabbing his toys and bringing them up to his face and shaking them. We've been working on sitting up alone but he is still a little wobbly and needs help.
We went and got pictures made this past weekend. He did so well. He didn't like his naked pictures too much. Once that was over with we got some very good shots. We pick them up on the 30th and will send them out to everyone soon!

We are renting a beach house at Virginia Beach, VA at the end of the month with a group of friends. Hopefully the weather will be nice to hang out on the beach. It will be Jackson's first trip overnight anywhere! Should be fun!

Aunt Amanda and Uncle Mat will be coming to visit April 5th. We are so excited they are coming!

Well that's all for now.

Jackson's surgery

Well we made it through surgery! We arrived at the surgery center at 6:30am Tuesday morning and he went in at 7:30am. They did an exam on him and he weighed almost 12 pounds already! We had to take all of his clothes off and put him in a surgical gown with booties. The anesthesiologist came in and explained that he would be getting a caudal which is a general anesthetic low in the back. It would last for a while so he shouldn't feel any pain afterwards. I tried to hold it together but when they said "Ok, give your hugs and kisses" and they took him from me I lost it. We went to eat breakfast, which I couldn't even eat and then went to sit in the waiting room. The procedure lasted just under an hour. Dr. Rogers called us in the waiting room to tell us that everything went well and that he was stable. We then were taken to the recovery room were his nurse was holding him. Of course he was still passed out and the nurses were all over him. One of the nurses said "Can I hold him just a little longer?" and I said if you want to fight me for him! :-) We were in recovery for about an hour and I got to nurse him which was great because he was starving!!! The last time he got to eat was 2:30 that morning and then Pedialyte at 4:30am which he hated! We were then moved to his room where we were told we would be getting a roomate. He was doing great, not even skipping a feeding and staying right on his schedule. They did give him some Tylenol since he was a little fussy. By the time his last feeding came around at about 6:30pm we got a roomate. The hospital had this stupid policy about only one parent being able to stay the night in the room. the other parent had to sleep in a seperate room down the hall on a cot. Needless to say Scott wasn't going anywhere! There was only one recliner that pulled out into a bed and then there was the floor. We took turns sleeping on the floor. The night went well. Jackson only got up once to feed at about 3:30am. It didn't even mess with his night routine! I was so proud of him. So now we are home safe and sound. He was a little upset this morning so I gave him some more Tylenol. We are so thankful to have that behind us! Thanks to everyone who called to check on him! Thanks for all your prayers!

Love,
Steph

Jackson 11 weeks

Can you belive it has almost been three months since Jackson was born! He looks like such a little man! He has started to find his hands, feet and other things...... :-) All of his newborn clothes 0-3 months no longer fit him. He's getting chunkier by the day! Here are a few pics of him.

Enjoy!

Aunt Alechia, Rian and Ella visit

Aunt Alechia and cousins Rian and Ella came to visit Jackson last Thursday. We would have had a better visit if Scott and I weren't sick! It was bad timing! Scott had a cold all last week and I got a very weird sickness last Saturday coming down with severe vomiting and diarrhea. Yuck! We were hoping we wouldn't pass it along to the kids, especially Jackson since he was having surgery on Tuesday. We wish we could have done more with them but the weather was freezing cold and it just didn't go as planned. Nevertheless we were glad to have them and sad to see them go. Ella is a hoot. She is such a chatterbox and Scott calls her a cartoon baby. She has the biggest grin! Rian is getting bigger too. He made up a cool game we all got to play...."throw it up the stairs". Poor Rian...he hardly got to get outside because it was so cold. We're planning to make a trip to Dallas in June so hopefully it will be a better visit.

Here are some pics of the kids. Enjoy!
